A 58 year old Asian male hair restoration patient, Norwood VI with balding area over the front and crown, miniaturized hairs over the top, wanted to have flat and lower hair line and temple restoration. The total bald area measured 183 cm2 at frontal, temple and crown. He has limited donor area. The ultra refined follicular unit grafting was done with strip technique and trichophytic closure.
The details of the hair transplantation are as follows:
Frontal & Top area: 1 hair: 529 FU grafts, 2 hair: 2445 FU grafts (4890hairs) and 3 hair: 453 FU grafts (1359 hairs). A total of 3427 follicular unit grafts, bearing 6778 hairs were transplanted.
Temple area: 1 hair: 60 FU grafts and 2 hair: 90FU grafts(180 hairs) on left side and 1 hair: 60 FU grafts and 2 hair:100 FU grafts ( 200 hairs) on right side were transplanted.
Total of 3737 FU grafts bearing 7278 hairs were transplanted. Patient has been on Finasteride 1mg 1 tab. daily and Minoxidil 5% lotion, 1cc twice daily. The patient was followed at 8 months post operative with good growth and significant cosmetic improvement. His donor area has minimal scar as shown in the photographs. He will return for crown transplantation in the near future.
